Family sells pharmacy in Sheffield having owned business since 1957

A family who owned a community pharmacy in Sheffield since 1957 have sold the business.

Christie & Co, who brokered the deal, said owners Chris and Jane Armstrong sold Armstrong’s Pharmacy to unnamed first-time buyers for an undisclosed price having decided to retire.

Christie & Co said the “standard-hours” pharmacy dispenses an average of 11,332 items a month and is about three miles south-west of Sheffield City Centre.

Christie & Co also said the new owners want to expand the size of the pharmacy with additional consultation rooms and increase its services.

“It was a big decision to sell our multigenerational business but, when it was time to retire, we were glad that Christie & Co were able to quickly market the business successfully,” Chris Armstrong said.

“We had three viewings and three offers in the first few weeks of marketing, and it is pleasing that the new owners are a young, motivated husband and wife team with plans to enhance what we have done with the business as a family.”
